I Wonder... what keeps me inspired to write?

It is so easy to get discouraged pursuing an impossible (I'm possible) dream when you don't see a particular result you think you need. So, what keeps me going?

Is it the wonderful feedback from readers? The encouragement from people describing the impact my stories have on them is massively inspiring. I know I couldn't be so brave to share my writing without you!

Is it other writers? Reading is necessary fuel for any writer. I gain strength in my craft from those who paved the way before me and receive inspiration from quotes such as this:

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for"

- quoted by Robin Williams as John Keating in the Dead Poets Society

- written by Walt Whitman in Leaves of Grass

If you are writer like me, maybe you will gain some inspiration from these other fantastic quotes. "Don't give up!" is their constant reminder.

Really at the end of the day, what keeps me going is that writing is like my need for oxygen. It helps me breath. It also keeps me sane. My rich imagination and wealth of feelings wont let me rest until I express their message and meaning in my stories.

Perhaps the personal satisfaction of creating something that didn't previously exist in the world is its own reward? To just complete a book is a phenomenal result. To write one full of poetry, beauty, romance and love is even better. It adds weight to the collective human purpose to live for joy.

What keeps you inspired to keep taking action towards your dreams?
